Recipe Ingredients

Pork loin – Your local grocer will pre-package the pork loin for you, but look for that pinkish-red color with some marbling on the meat. The fat adds flavor!

Many pre-packaged pork tenderloins come in packages of two, so be aware of this. You can easily double the recipe following the same cook time and everything will cook perfectly.

Apples –Select a few different varieties of fresh apples to achieve really robust flavor. Choose from the sweet and tart list below!

Then peel, core and chop them and add the sliced apples to a large bowl half filled with cool water. Squeeze the juice of half of a lemon into it.

The lemon juice will keep the apples from getting brown while prepping for the recipe.

Apple cider – If you do not have apple cider on hand, apple juice is a great substitute.

Onions – Yellow onion or white onion will both work great in this recipe. Sweet onions taste best, in my opinion!

How To Make Crockpot Pork Loin with Apples

Step 1

Place a 1.5-pound pork tenderloin (use up to a 3-lb loin) in a crock pot along with a layer of apples, onions and topped with apple cider. Sea salt or kosher salt and ground black pepper never hurt when sprinkled over top of the pork and apple slices.

Cover and cook on high heat for 4 to 5 hours. Using a sharp knife, cut the pork and place on a serving platter. Pour the apple-onion mixture over the top of each serving.

How To Freeze Cooked Pork Tenderloin

Allow the pork to cool completely after it has been cooked. Wrap tightly in aluminum foil or plastic wrap, then stick inside a heavy duty freezer bag or an airtight container.

Freeze for up to 4 months for best results.

How To Reheat Pork Tenderloin

You can reheat the tenderloin in a large skillet along with stock or broth. Bring it to a boil, then reduce to simmer. The liquid in the pan will prevent the meat from drying out.

Cover the skillet and allow the meat to simmer in the liquid until it is heated all the way through.

Alternatively, you may reheat to pork loin in the oven at 350 degrees F. Place in a shallow baking dish containing liquid. Bake for 20 minutes, or until heated through.

Pork Loin vs Pork Shoulder

A pork loin contains leaner meat with a juicy, tender flavor. Pork shoulder is even more lean with a milder flavor, and is more pink in color than tenderloin.

Internal Temperatures for Pork Roast

The internal temperature of a pork roast or loin should reach 145° F. Use a high quality meat thermometer to get an accurate reading.
