For you to you understand our differential, it’s important to know what each one does.
Plastic Surgeon
He is responsible for the online and in-person appointments and for drawing up a two-phase surgical plan. He coordinates the entire team at the clinic and the hospital, and is also who will see you frequently throughout your post-op period.
The first phase of the surgical plan is done right after the first appointment and is already very specific. He will write down in your chart the type of plastic surgery that will be performed. After this phase, our Patient Assistant may prepare a Cost Estimate using the medical team’s and hospital’s price lists.
The second phase is done the week before your surgery and is much more detailed. At this time, the following details will be defined:
- Types of thread to be used
- The sequence of the surgery
- Type of anesthesia
- The time spent in the OR
- Length of hospital stay
On the day of the surgery, the surgeon will talk with you and your family and will transmit further details.
After being discharged from the hospital, for patients out of Brazil, we will follow up by video call on the 3rd, 15th and 30th post-op days, as well as every two months.
Post-Op
The plastic surgeon will also be responsible for coordinating the post-op period, answering all questions you may have. It is important to point out that we created a Whatsapp group for each patient together with all professionals involved. We will make sure you are quickly and easily advised throughout all phases.
Nutritionist
We always warn patients that the musculature must be strong to show; in other words, way before the procedure, the patient must follow the entire nutritional plan regarding physical exercises and muscle tone.
In our program with our Nutritionist we emphasize:
- Loss of fat mass
- Protein and muscle-mass gain
- Combat skin flaccidity
- Reduce the body’s inflammation before the surgery
- Good healing
At our clinic we have an excellent structure with a bioimpedance scale.
Anesthesia
The anesthesiologist will ask for all pre-op exams and give you an oral sedative (Dormonid 15 mg) so you fall asleep already in your room, prior to the surgery.
She will stay beside you throughout the entire procedure. We rarely use general anesthesia, it’s more common to use moderate sedation. You will wake up gradually, smoothly with no pain or nausea.
We have set it up in such a way that you fall asleep in your room and don’t even recall going through the Operating Room, regaining consciousness only when you are back in your room.
Physiotherapist
This professional is of the utmost importance to combat edema, make the ecchymosis disappear, correct your posture, inspect the healing quality and speed, answer questions about the use of compression garments, and detect possible healing problems.
Nurse
Your first contact with her will be before the plastic surgery so she may advise you on the correct type of compression garments that you must wear after the surgery. She will also explain about the anti-thrombosis socks.
After the plastic surgery, she will be responsible for the special dressings that we use or for using the tape-glue.She will go by your room to explain further details to you and your family.
She will also see and assist you when you return to the clinic.
You will also have direct contact with her to answer your questions; this is something we are very proud of: we offer a humanized, close service to all our patients.
Assistance and coordination team
We have a very pleasant and friendly team and each one plays a specific role. You may count on them throughout the entire process. Didactically speaking, our team’s patient support is divided into the following:
Pre-consultation Support
- For all those that want to have Plastic Surgery and don’t know where to start, it’s the channel to obtain safe information and schedule your appointment
Consultation Assistant
- After the appointment, she assists patients with their surgeries; i.e. scheduling, payments, and questions.
Post-Op Assitance
- Takes care specifically of the patient’s post-op journey: hospital discharge, correct use of the medication and compression garments, scheduling physiotherapy sessions and dressing changes, as well as scheduling future follow-up appointments with the responsible plastic surgeon.
Coordinator
- She always schedules a pre-appointment to understand the questions, fears and objectives of all those that will still have the first appointment. Additionally, she coordinates the other members of the team and helps you get through the different phases of the process to have a safe surgery and post-op.
Hospital Discharge after the surgery
The hospital discharge will happen 24 to 48 hours after the plastic surgery. We always send a nurse and a physiotherapist to the hospital to tend to you already the day after the procedure, before you are discharged.
We have your comfort in mind and transmit important instructions for when you go home, such as walking slouched, not touch the dressings (they don’t have to be changed), wearing the compression garment and for when you return to the clinic, for example.
You will receive two booklets: one for before and one for after the plastic surgery. This way, you will already know what to expect and what you have to do to reach your (our) objectives.
Our patients don’t usually experience post-op pain.
