Bold headline: A strategic alliance to supercharge network APIs, with real-world implications for CSPs, developers, and enterprises.
Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) today reveals a strategic partnership with LotusFlare, a Santa Clara-based software company serving the telecom sector and enterprise customers. Founded in 2014, LotusFlare employs around 500 people worldwide. As part of the collaboration, Ericsson has acquired a minority stake in LotusFlare.
LotusFlare’s DNO Cloud platform delivers consent management and digital commerce capabilities that underpin a Network API Exposure Layer. This layer enables exposure and monetization of advanced network features via APIs. The partnership strengthens Ericsson’s leadership in networking and its broad portfolio designed to help communications service providers (CSPs) expose and monetize advanced network capabilities through APIs. Together, Ericsson and LotusFlare will develop common solution blueprints that illustrate typical integration scenarios for the Network API Exposure Layer, covering API access and consent management. These blueprints will be brought to market to accelerate CSPs on their journey toward API-based monetization of network assets.
Niklas Heuveldop, Senior Vice President and Head of the Global Communications Platform business area, and CEO of Vonage, commented: “This strategic partnership with LotusFlare marks an exciting step forward. By pairing Ericsson’s high-performance, programmable networks with LotusFlare’s Network Abstraction capabilities, Aduna’s global network API aggregation capabilities, and Vonage’s network-powered enterprise solutions, CSPs will accelerate their ability to unlock new network capabilities. This is one of the industry’s most significant value-creation opportunities. Strengthening the broader ecosystem will enable CSPs, enterprises, and developers to collaborate and innovate at hyperscale, fully leveraging 5G and AI.”
Sam Gadodia, CEO and Co-Founder of LotusFlare, added: “Welcoming Ericsson as an investor reinforces our mission to simplify technology and the customer experience. We’ve already progressed considerably with our DNO Cloud and Nomad eSIM offerings. Ericsson’s investment validates our product innovation and market impact. This partnership is poised to open new market opportunities and speed up the development of essential network asset monetization capabilities for CSPs worldwide.”
With this collaboration, Vonage (a subsidiary of Ericsson) will leverage the enhanced API supply to boost the adoption of new network capabilities. This will empower developers and enterprises to build network-powered solutions that convert advanced connectivity into competitive advantage.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
