Disney rarely misses the mark with their extraordinary films, so whenever it's revealed that a new production is in the works, fans immediately save the dates to ensure they're first in line during opening weekend. Whether it be a live-action remake of an original classic or a new animated film to sing along to in the theater, Disney typically doesn't disappoint in bringing the best entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

Last month, numbers soared in Disney+ subscribers, the company's popular streaming service, after they exclusively released the new Marvel sequel, , on the platform. The film starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is the second-highest-grossing film so far, earning $1.3 billion at the box office. This came behind another Disney sequel, Inside Out 2, which raked in $1.7 billion.

With more Disney sequels on the horizon, fans are on the edge of their seats waiting for their releases, and they will be here before you know it. Here is a list of some of the Disney sequels hitting theaters soon so you can mark your calendars accordingly.

Fans have been eager for the Moana 2 release since Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the film was coming in February. The movie is said to have initially been created as a television series for Disney+, but it instead was turned into a theatrical sequel.

Cast members Auli'l Cravalho (Moana) and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (Maui) have reprised their roles for the second installment, hitting theaters on November 27. Cravalho, who was 16 when the first movie premiered, recently reflected on how the film changed her career.

“I really feel that we are reaching out to the future,” the Broadway star said in an interview. “If our last film was also about connecting with our past, we meet Moana three years after our last film has ended.

“For the first time in Disney history, this is big… a Disney princess has aged. So she's a little bit older, she's a little bit wiser. She is taking her people in a direction that her parents could have never imagined,” Cravalho concluded.

Frozen 3 (November 2027)

While it's a ways away before we're reunited with Anna, Elsa, and Olaf in Frozen 3, we can share our excitement that the film finally has a release date. In 2022, Kristen Bell teased the possibility of a third installment of the popular animation during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. It wasn't confirmed that the movie was a go until February 2023, when Iger shared the news.

The film was originally slated for a 2026 release, but the premiere was pushed back to November 2027 to capitalize on the spike at the box office over Thanksgiving. The core cast is returning for the third film, including Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff.

Toy Story 5 (June 19, 2026)

The hype surrounding the Toy Story films continues to grow, even over 30 years after the original film premiered. Last year, it was revealed that a fifth movie in the Pixar franchise was on the horizon, making fans eager to see how it could top the others. The film, dropping on June 19, 2026, is said to tackle technology's massive influence on children as the toys battle to stay relevant.

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return as Woody and Buzz Lightyear as their story continues after the pair went their separate ways at the conclusion of Toy Story 4. Last year, Allen expressed his initial concerns about making another Toy Story film on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

The Home Improvement star said he “[wondered] if four was too many. Is five going to be too much?” before assuring fans that the “writer that’s doing it wrote one of the better ones and said, ‘If I didn’t get this right, I wouldn’t do it.' It could be a very, very interesting way to reunite it.”

Mufasa: The Lion King (December 20, 2024)

The wait is almost over to see Mufasa: The Lion King, as the prequel to the Disney animated film The Lion King drops on December 20. The movie documents the origin story of Mufasa as he goes from a little cub to the king of the Pride Lands.

The film has created quite the buzz not only for its deeper dive into the beloved character from the original 1994 movie but also for its star-studded cast. Beyonce and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, Donald Glover, Seth Rogan, and Billy Eichner are among the stars.

“[Watching Beyoncé], both on the screen and behind the screen, get to be a mother — and how that affected and impacted for the better the work that we were all doing — was just really awesome,” director Barry Jenkins told People in April 2024 about the Grammy Award winner and her daughter joining the cast.

“I feel like Blue grew quite a bit over the course of that tour,” Jenkins added. “The movie is kind of like this snapshot, this time capsule of a moment in their lives that I think is really beautiful. And it absolutelyworked for the film.”

Snow White (March 21, 2025)

A live-action remake of Snow White is hitting theaters in March 2025, and it's about time, as it has been almost 90 years since the original animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered in 1937. The film was initially planned to drop this year, but it was pushed back in the wake of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

The opening weekend is closing in, and it's expected to be a hit at the box office following the massive success of Disney's other live-action remakes like The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. Snow White stars Rachel Zegler as the princess and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. However, the former's casting stirred up controversy due to some people taking issue with a woman of Latin descent portraying a European.

Zegler addressed the backlash in an interview with Variety and said she is focused on the role's positive impact rather than dwelling on the criticism. “We need to love them in the right direction. At the end of the day, I have a job to do that I'm really excited to do. I get to be a Latina princess,” the actress said.

Zootopia 2 (November 26, 2025)

Nearly a decade after the first Zootopia movie premiered, Disney is releasing a sequel, bringing Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) back together and adding some familiar voices to the cast. Fans were first introduced to the pair in 2016 when the animated film premiered in theaters, earning $1.025 billion at the box office. Now, they're reuniting in Zootopia, although details about how their story will continue are unknown.

We do know that Shakira is also reprising her role as Gazelle in the second installment, which is dropping on November 26, 2025. “I’m here to announce some big news. Are you ready? Gazelle is returning to Zootopia 2,” the singer announced in a statement earlier this month.

“That’s right. Gazelle is back and she’s got a new look, a new song and, of course, new dance moves. Just wait until you see what she and her tiger dancers have been working on. I know you’re going to love it. That’s all I can share for now, but I look forward to seeing you all on my tour next year and I’ll see you at the movies next November.”

New to the cast is Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan, who plays Gary the Snake, and comedian Fortune Feimster voices a beaver named Nibbles.

Lilo & Stitch (May 24, 2025)

With all the live-action Disney remakes being pumped out, it's no surprise that a Lilo & Stitch remake was coming, and it's happening soon. The film reimagines the 2002 animated version, bringing the characters to life and using CGI for the titular protagonist, Stitch. Like Moana 2, Lilo & Stitch was originally created as a Disney+ series before it became a theatrical film, but the cast is entirely new from the original movie.

Maia Kealoha plays Lilo in the film alongside Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Sydney Agudong, Kaipo Dudoit, Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Hill, Jason Scott Lee, and Hannah Waddingham. The first trailer for the film was recently released, showing Stitch wreaking havoc on the beach in Hawaii, teasing what's to come from the blue alien when the movie drops on May 24, 2025.
