IIT Kanpur's 2025-26 Placement Season: A Record-Breaking Start
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur's 2025-26 placement season kicked off with a bang, setting a new day-1 record with 672 job offers received. This impressive figure represents a 16% increase from the previous year, showcasing a surge in industry interest in the institute's highly skilled engineering and tech graduates.
On the first day alone, 627 students secured job offers, including 253 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), a 27% rise from the previous year. This steady growth in PPOs indicates a stronger industry engagement and a promising trend of internship-to-job conversions.
IIT Kanpur's global reach expanded further as nine students received overseas offers, highlighting the institute's growing international reputation. Recruiters from India and abroad, spanning sectors like consulting, finance, analytics, core engineering, and technology, participated in the initial day's hiring.
Over 250 companies have registered for the placement season, with major recruiters like Accenture, BlackRock, HSBC, SAP, Airbus, PwC, Navi, Qualcomm, and Deutsche Bank making appearances on Day 1. The Students' Placement Office attributes this success to the collective efforts of students, faculty, and recruiting partners.
IIT Kanpur's reputation as an Institute of National Importance, renowned for its engineering and scientific research leadership, is well-deserved. The institute's 1,055-acre campus houses 20 academic departments, 27 centers, and multiple interdisciplinary schools, supported by over 570 faculty members and 9,500 students.
As the placement season progresses, with more companies expected to visit, the overall placement figures are projected to rise even higher, solidifying IIT Kanpur's position as a top engineering talent hub.
