Operators

Each round, players will be able to select an Operator from one of the available CTUs featured in Rainbow Six Siege.

Launch Game Guide part 2 (1)

Operators have specialties. They are either Attackers or Defenders and are each equipped with their own Unique Gadget. Each Operator will come equipped with specific loadout options. Players will be able to make adjustments to operator loadouts to better suit their playstyles, but each Operator will have their own unique set of choices on primary and secondary weapons/gadgets.

Keep in mind that each Operator is a unique pick during a game. Once an Operator is chosen, others players won’t be able to choose him or her for that round. So choose wisely!

The SAS Operators:

ATTACKERS

Launch Game Guide part 2 (3)

Sledge

Sledge is a destruction-focused, close-range Operator. Has has a medium armor class.

**Unique Gadget: **Breaching Hammer

Sledge’s breaching hammer can be used to quickly go through destructible walls, floors and barricades. It’s also much quieter than using explosives but might leave you exposed to the enemies or traps on the other side of the obstruction, so be ready to quickly take cover from enemy fire. While Sledge is an effective breacher, his Breaching Hammer cannot breach reinforced walls and reinforced trapdoors.

Recommended composition: Sledge does well when paired with IQ. She is able to detect electronic defenses that the enemy has set up. If the room is clear, Sledge can breach silently and sneak around to the other side and flank to enemy.

Launch Game Guide part 2 (4)

Thatcher

Thatcher supports his team by destroying enemy traps and cameras. He has a medium armor class.

**Unique Gadget: **EMP Grenade

When Thatcher throws his EMP Grenade, all electronic devices within a 7m radius are immediately destroyed. This device is not limited by floors, walls, or ceilings, and is therefore able to destroy any device that falls within that 7m sphere.

Recommended composition: Thatcher is ideally paired with IQ. She is able to locate the other team’s electronic devices, and then through effective communication, relay their location to Thatcher who can utilize his EMP Grenades to clear a path to the objective.

DEFENDERS

Launch Game Guide part 2 (5)

Mute

Mute is focused on protecting a location by disrupting enemy gadgets. He has a medium armor class.

Unique Gadget: Signal Disrupter

Mute has a Signal Disrupter that prevents communications, such as remote detonations or the usage of drones in its range. He protects his team’s stronghold against breach charges and drones, rendering them useless as long as they are within the jamming device’s range. But Signal Disrupters have a limited range so use them wisely: place them in a barricaded doorframe to prevent a drone from entering a room or at the corner of a room to protect two walls instead of only one.

Recommended composition: Mute does well when paired with Bandit. Bandit can place his Shock Wire to deny the enemy a positive line of sight to Mute’s Signal Disrupter.

Launch Game Guide part 2 (6)

Smoke

Smoke traps a selected area, strongly discouraging his opponents to navigate within it. He has a medium armor class.

**Unique Gadget: **Remote Gas Grenade

Smoke can set a remote detonated gas grenade that deals damage over time to anyone in the smoke. Smoke is the ideal pick if you like to plant traps. You can plant a nitro cell and a Remote Gas Grenade at the same time and detonate them separately in order to cover two entry points. But be careful with the toxic gas, Smoke is immune to it but his teammates are not.

Recommended composition: Smoke is best used with Pulse. Pulse uses his Cardiac Sensor to detect enemies, while Smoke places a trap for them.

The FBI SWAT Operators:

ATTACKERS

Launch Game Guide part 2 (8)

Thermite

Thermite is a destruction-focused Operator. He has a medium armor class.

Unique Gadget: Exothermic Charges

Thermite sets exothermic charges that destroy reinforced walls. He is an unstoppable breacher. He is especially useful while playing against enemies who are heavily relying on fortifications. Equip Thermite with frag grenades so that he can attack enemies right after the breach. Keep in mind that exothermic charges use a remote detonator, Mute’s jamming device can interrupt the signal if the charge is set within range.

Recommended composition: Thermite is extremely effective when paired with Montagne. After clearing out a fortified wall, Montagne is able to push through with his Extendable Shield from a direction the enemy was not expecting.

Launch Game Guide part 2 (9)

Ash

Ash is a destruction-focused, long-rang Operator. She has a light armor class.

Unique Gadget: Breaching Round

Ash is able to open up entry points from a safe distance without exposing herself to the enemy with her breaching round, a projectile explosive breaching method. With Ash being able to pave the way for her teammates to push through a breach without ever having to worry about Mute’s signal disruptor, this makes her a valuable asset to any team. Also worth noting, Ash is the only Operator that is able to breach a ceiling. Unfortunately, her breaching rounds are not effective against reinforced walls and floors.

Recommended composition: Ash’s effectiveness is increased when she is paired up with Glaz. As both Operators are effective in long range attacks, Ash can clear a line of sight utilizing her breaching round, while Glaz engages his flip sight to eliminate enemies or cover his teammates from a safe distance.

DEFENDERS

Launch Game Guide part 2 (10)

Castle

Castle blocks the selected location by providing more advanced barricades. He has a medium armor class.

Unique Gadget: Armored Panels

Castle’s gadget is a superior version of the standard barricade. These armored panels are resistant to weapon fire, but are still susceptible to any explosive breaching method or hits from your rifle’s buttstock. It is worth noting there is a maximum of three armored panels that can be deployed at any given time.

Recommended composition: Castle’s unique gadget pairs well with Bandit. Place a barbed wire in the door frame and place a Castle barricade over it. Then, ask Bandit to electrify that barbed wire. The barricade will safely protect the battery from being destroyed from the other side!

Launch Game Guide part 2 (11)

Pulse

Pulse supports his team by detecting enemy presence. He has a light armor class.

Unique Gadget: Cardiac Sensor (previously known as Heartbeat Sensor)

Pulse detects heartbeats within a limited range through obstacles with his Cardiac Sensor. If you play with Pulse, it’s critical that you communicate actively with the rest of the team, as you will be the only one who knows the movements of nearby enemies. The range of the Cardiac Sensor is limited to 10 meters.

Recommended composition: Pulse works well with any Operator or Recruit, as long as you are good at communicating.

The GIGN Operators:

ATTACKERS

Launch Game Guide part 2 (13)

Montagne

Montagne is able to deploy a massive ballistic shield to provide his team with mobile cover. He has a heavy armor class.

Unique Gadget: Extendable Shield

Montagne is the quintessential assault team point man. Able to extend his ballistic shield to cover himself from head to toe, as well as those behind him, he is a force to be reckoned with during an assault. It is imperative that Montagne has a teammate or two on his six to provide fire, as he is unable to use a weapon while his shield is fully deployed.

Recommended composition: Good with any Operator or Recruit as long as they are willing and able to move as a cohesive unit through the area of operation.

Launch Game Guide part 2 (14)

Twitch

Twitch supports her team by remotely dealing minor damage to enemies and disabling traps. She has a medium armor class.

Unique Gadget: Shock Drone

Twitch pilots a Shock Drone that can deliver electric shocks thanks to a short-range taser, dealing minor damage and disabling traps. You can use her drone as an observation drone (but it’s not available during the observation phase before the beginning of the round) and a Shock Drone, make sure to use each function in the right situation. The drone can also be used as a diversion to distract enemies while your teammates move in. However, beware of jamming devices as the Shock Drone is vulnerable to them.

Recommended composition: Good with any Operator or Recruit, as long as you communicate effectively.

DEFENDERS

Launch Game Guide part 2 (15)

Doc

Doc supports his team by bringing his years of medical training into the field, and is able to revive DBNO teammates within range of his Stim Pistol. He has a heavy armor class.

Unique Gadget: Stim Pistol

Doc is able to revive DBNO teammates from a distance, and works best close to his teammates. With a single shot from his Stim Pistol, a DBNO teammate is instantly back in the fight, turning the tables on an enemy after a breach gone awry.

Recommended Composition: Doc is able to revive teammates that are DBNO, and Rook is able to supply his teammates with armor plates that increase their chances of going DBNO instead of dying. Together they create a powerful combination.

![Rook](https://ubistatic19-a.ubisoft.com/resource/en-GB/game/rainbow6/siege/Rook_229455.png "Rook")

Rook

Rook supports his team by providing them with additional armor. He has a heavy armor class.

Unique Gadget: Armor Pack

Rook will greatly improve your team’s survival thanks to his Armor Pack. These Armor plates increase the chances of the wearer to drop in DBNO (down but not out state) when shot. It also increases the armor rating of anyone picking it up. Make sure to always drop the box during the preparation phase, as Attackers can destroy the box.

Recommended Composition: Rook does well when Doc is on the team. As Rook’s Armor plates improve the changes that the wearer will go to DBNO as opposed to outright dying, this makes Doc more effective as he is able to bring them back quickly and at range.

CTU: Spetsnaz

Launch Game Guide part 2 (16)

The Spetsnaz Operators:

ATTACKERS

Launch Game Guide part 2 (17)

Glaz

Glaz supports his team with his powerful rifle and longer ranged vision. He has a medium armor class.

Unique Gadget: Flip Sight

His Flip Sight allows Glaz to more accurately engage with the enemy from a longer range. He is the only operator equipped with a Dragunov SVU. He is able to pierce barriers and walls with his high powered sniper rifle, and is able to attack enemies that feel secure in their barricaded room.

Recommended composition: Glaz and Ash are a powerful combination. Ash is able to give Glaz a clearer line of sight from a distance.

Launch Game Guide part 2 (18)

Fuze

Fuze comes equipped with a ballistic shield and an effective means of wreaking havoc to a secure location, prior to entering a room. He has a heavy armor class.

Unique Gadget: Cluster Charge

The Cluster Charge is a unique device that will launch 5 small grenades into the room on the other side of the wall from where it is placed. These grenades are less lethal than standard grenades due to their small size, but will still inflict serious damage to enemies caught within the blast radius.

Recommended composition: When Fuze is teamed up with Blitz, the enemy is in trouble. After Fuze detonates his Cluster Charge, Blitz can come in from another direction and trigger his Flash Shield, blinding the enemies as they flee from Fuze’s Cluster Charge.

DEFENDERS

Launch Game Guide part 2 (19)

Kapkan

Kapkan traps selected entry points; killing enemies that aren’t cautious enough. He has a heavy armor class.

Unique Gadget: Entry Denial Device

Clever placement of this homemade booby traps are able to turn the tide of an entire engagement. Utilizing this device around a blind corner or barricade can eliminate an enemy before they have a chance to get any rounds off, giving your team the advantage. Ideally a player utilizing this Operator is mindful that the device can protrude from the other side of the wall, and will take care to conceal the location of the trap.

Recommended Composition: Deploy one of Kapkan’s Entry Denial Devices with Castle’s Armored Panel to distract an unobservant enemy. Armored Panels require most Attackers to get within detonation range of the Entry Denial Device in order to take down this specialized barricade. Once the panel is destroyed, and eager Attacker then may detonate the EDD’s laser trip wire as they enter the room.

Launch Game Guide part 2 (20)

Tachanka

Tachanka protects an area by providing it with additional stationary firepower. He has a heavy armor class.

Unique Gadget: Mounted LMG

Tachanka wields the RP-46 Degtyaryov, a light machine gun mounted on a tripod, equipped with a high capacity magazine, the RP-46 fires rounds that inflict more damage than standard firearms. One unique aspect of this gadget is that, if Tachanka abandons the Mounted LMG after deploying it or is eliminated, any Operator is able to use the gun, Attackers and Defenders.

Recommended Composition: Tachanka and Pulse are a great combination of Operators to have on your team. Once Tachanka has deployed his Mounted LMG, Pulse is able to use his Cardiac Sensor to locate targets to Tachanka, allowing him to eliminate threats through walls and barriers.

CTU: GSG9

Launch Game Guide part 2 (21)

The GSG 9 Operators:

ATTACKERS

Launch Game Guide part 2 (22)

IQ

IQ supports her team by detecting enemy traps and electronic devices. She has a light armor class.

Unique Gadget: Electronics Detector

The Electronics Detector is able to detect friendly and enemy electronic signals through various barriers. In addition, due to its small size, IQ is also able to use a side arm while the device is active. This allows her to accurately fire on enemy electronics to clear the way for her teammates to attack.

Recommended composition: When IQ is in the field with Twitch, IQ is able to guide Twitch’s Shock Drone through the area of operations to neutralize enemy gadgets.

Launch Game Guide part 2 (23)

Blitz

Blitz comes with a specialized ballistic shield, which allows him to push into rooms with a bang. He has a heavy armor class.

Unique Gadget: Flash Shield

Blitz’s shield is equipped with a row of special bulbs that can be detonated to provide the same effect as a flash-bang. This allows him to breach a room and quickly dispatch any enemies that are still suffering from the effects of his Flash Shield.

Recommended composition: Given that Blitz is only equipped with a side arm, Sledge is able to bring a lot of power, and they make a great combination. Once Sledge clears out a barrier, Blitz is able to move in and provide cover with his shield as they assault the room.

DEFENDERS

Launch Game Guide part 2 (24)

Bandit

Bandit can turn barbed wire, reinforced walls, and deployable shields into powerful traps. He has a light armor class.

Unique Gadget: Shock Wire

The Shock Wire gadget is created by combining a small car battery and a taser into a single, portable unit. This device is able to add an electrical charge to barbed wires, reinforced walls, and deployable shields that are placed by himself or his teammates. It’s important to note that drones cannot cross electrified barbed wires.

Recommended composition: When Bandit and Mute are working together they are a formidable pair. They are able to put a shock wire on top of a signal disrupter to protect the signal disruptor from being detected or destroyed.

Launch Game Guide part 2 (25)

Jager

Jager protects the desired area by neutralizing multiple grenades. He has a light armor class.

Unique Gadget: Active Defense

The ADS-MK4 “Magpie” Automated Defense System is an integral part of a fortified defense. With the ability to neutralize any grenades used within its field of view, the ADS-MK4 is able to significantly limit any attacking teams’ options when it comes to breaking into a stronghold.

Recommended composition: : Combining the Active Defense with a Signal Disruptor can have a devastating effect on any team that is attempting to breach. While the Signal Disruptor is able to neutralize any remote controlled breaching devices, the Active Defense is able to eliminate any ranged explosives or EMP grenades.

Recruits

There is also the option to select a Recruit. Recruits are operatives that are less specialized, but very versatile. They can both Attack and Defend and have broader loadout options. However, they do not have a Unique Gadget and can only reinforce a single wall. Recruits can be picked multiple times by the same team.
