Boyle. At the Hatated Undertaking H33 Sutter street, hundreds of friends, citizens and officials, attended funeral services for tne man who had been San Fran-cslco's auditor for more than twenty years, and who died last Saturday at the age of 72.

The chapel was filled long before 10:30 o'clock, the hour set for the services, and the crowd stretched far out Into the street, forming a line to pass by the casket LED BY MAYOR. Practically every city official and employe was there, led by Mayor James Rolph and members of the Board of Supervisors. The city Hall was closed during the ritea and flags flew at half mast throughout the city. The services were conducted by the Rev. Father M.

P. Ryan of St. Vincent's Church, assisted by the Rev. Richard Gleason, S. Interment was in Cypress Lawn cemetery.

Late yesterday Mayor Rolph announced that he would name a successor to the late auditor within 48 hours. By the Mayor's appointment Edward Rainey, his executive secretary, is serving as temporary auditor. While he refused to disclose the Identity of the appointee, the Mayor had already indicated that Boyle's successor would he chosen from the ranks of city employes. ROGERS IN LINE. Speculation centered about four city employes and the most likely for appointment appeared to be John W.

Rogers, chief assistant clerk for the Board of Supervisors. Rogers was formerly civil service commissioner and at one time served as the City's legislative representative at Sacramento. He is the founder of the city employes' retirement system. Three other city employes mentioned as possibilities are Bennlng Wentworth, an accountant in the auditor's office; John Boyle, office superintendent, and Henry Ingwer-son, chief deputy. 'Curly Brown Rites Planned for Today GLENDALE, May 6.
