Boishakhi Culture: Where Lies the Conflict As a child, I often saw my father and uncles eating 'panta bhat' (fermented rice). I ate it too. At that time, 'panta bhat' was a common breakfast for many farmers and workers. However, it was not served with hilsa fish; it was often eaten with curries, bananas, or just salt. During Boishakh, various regions would host fairs where snacks like jilapi (syrup-filled sweets), puffed rice, sugar drops, sweets, and traditional cakes were sold. Clay dolls, pottery, paper kites, bamboo flutes, and various handicrafts and furniture were displayed. There were also arrangements for spinning tops for children. At the beginning of the month of Boishakh, business owners and shopkeepers organized 'Halkhata' to settle accounts. These activities did not conflict with religious practices. However, some fairs included gambling, which Islam does not support. For this reason, religious scholars, especially concerning children attending fairs, were discouraged. Subsequently, strong protests by local clerics led to the banning of gambling at many places.In the 1990s, the addition of hilsa fish to 'panta bhat' and the introduction of the 'Mangal Shobhajatra' procession became part of the Boishakhi culture in Dhaka's Ramna Park. Some Islamic scholars oppose the procession for using idols and masks, arguing it conflicts with Muslim beliefs. Questions arise whether elements like the Mangal Shobhajatra, panta-ilish, wearing masks, and drawing tattoos are traditional aspects of Bengali culture. Islamic scholars find these elements conflicting with Islamic culture. Many believe that Pohela Boishakh celebrations are not specific to any religion and should not conflict with any religious beliefs.If we return to our traditional Boishakhi culture, we can make the celebration of the Bengali New Year joyful regardless of party, religion, or race. Analyzing Bengali culture, our traditions include the culture of 'panta bhat', Boishakhi fairs, musical events during the New Year, and organizing Halkhata. বিএসপিইউএ-এর ইফতার মাহফিল এবং আলোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠিতবাংলাদেশের বেসরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষকদের সুপরিচিত সংগঠন "বাংলাদেশ সোসাইটি ফর প্রাইভেট ইউনিভার্সিটি একাডেমিকস" (বিএসপিইউএ) ২২শে মার্চ ২০২৪, শুক্রবার ঢাকার বারিধারায় অবস্থিত ব্লসম হোটেল এর বল রুম এ এক ইফতার মাহফিল এবং আলোচনা সভার আয়োজন করে। ইফতার পূর্ববর্তী "এথিকাল ল্যাপসেস ইন টিচিং এন্ড রিসার্চ: স্ট্রাটেজিস ফর ইমপ্রুভমেন্ট" শীর্ষক বিষয়ের আলোচনায় প্রধান দুইজন আলোচক ছিলেন যথাক্রমে প্রফেসর ড: বদরুল খান, ফাউন্ডার অব মডার্ন ই-লার্নিং এবং প্রফেসর ড: খাজা ইফতেখার উদ্দিন আহমেদ, প্রো ভিসি এবং ভারপ্রাপ্ত ভিসি, গ্রীন ইউনিভার্সিটি অফ বাংলাদেশ। আলোচনায় শিক্ষকতায়, গবেষণায় এবং প্রশাসনিক কর্মকান্ডে নীতি চর্চার বিষয়টি উঠে আসে। সেই সাথে শিক্ষার্থীদের সাথে শিক্ষকদের সৌহার্দপূর্ণ সম্পর্ক কিভাবে নীতি চর্চার বিষয়টিকে আরো সহজে বাস্তবায়ন করতে পারে সে বিষয়টি আলোচিত হয়। অনুষ্ঠানের অন্যতম আলোচক ছিলেন অধ্যাপক ড. ইউসুফ মাহবুব ইসলাম, সাবেক ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর, ড্যাফোডিল ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটি। তিনি আল কুরআনের আলোকে গবেষণার গুরুত্ব উপস্থিত অতিথিদের সামনে আলোচনা করেন। আরো আলোচনা রাখেন, প্রফেসর এইচ এম জহিরুল হক, ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর, কানাডিয়ান ইউনিভার্সিটি অফ বাংলাদেশ, প্রফেসর আখতার হোসাইন, প্রফেসর মামুন হাবিব প্রমুখ।অনুষ্ঠানটি সভাপতিত্ব করেন বিএসপিইউএ- এর সভাপতি ও ইউনাইটেড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটির ব্যবসায় প্রশাসনের প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী। অনুষ্ঠান সঞ্চালনায় ছিলেন সাউথইস্ট ইউনিভার্সিটির সহযোগী অধ্যাপক ড. ফারহানা ফেরদৌসি। অনুষ্ঠানে বিএসপিইউএ -এর এক্সিকিউটিভ কাউন্সিল সদস্যবৃন্দ সহ বিভিন্ন বেসরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষক-শিক্ষার্থীগণ#BSPUA উপস্থিত ছিলেন।#bspua

Delivered a speech at the Global Summit on Social Justice and Sustainability 2024, which was virtually organized by BohniShikha-Agile in Education USA, New York on March 9, 2024. Renowned speakers from the USA, UK, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Yemen, Spain, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and other countries shared their insights and perspectives at the Summit. United International University (UIU) and Green University Bangladesh (GUB) served as the Strategic Partners for this event. Today, we had a successful meeting with delegates from ARI-Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) at United International University (UIU), Alhamdulillah. Currently, there are five ongoing research projects totaling BDT 2,500,000.00 between the two universities.Alongside UIU faculty members, researchers from Dhaka University, Daffodil International University, Independent University, and Southeast University have joined as co-investigators from Bangladesh. All principal investigators or coordinators of the projects were present at today's Progress Reporting session. We are optimistic that all five projects will be completed by 2024, Insha'Allah
